Thermal printing

Our printers use thermo-transfer technology - a form of thermal printing where foil is transferred to the pre-printed label..

There are three principal types of foil: wax, wax resin and resin:

• Wax is used for basic printing, where durability is not a major consideration.
• Wax resin is the most common type of foil. It has excellent durability
• Resin is the toughest. An etching print with great durability.

Used for rating plate signs and labels for chemicals where legibility throughout the product's shelf-life is a legal requirement. The thermal alternative is a simpler print application, using self-colouring paper. This is primarily used where there is no great requirement for durable labels, such as for transport labels/STE.
